Chimney Cleaning & Sweeping
The National Fire Protection Association states, “Chimneys shall be inspected at least once a year….”
While many people believe cleaning a chimney once a year is overkill, there is a reason the NFPA has made its recommendation for annual cleanings. What we see as the “normal burning conditions” is about two cords of wood burned in a fireplace. This alone is enough to produce the amount of creosote build-up to warrant cleaning. However, there are circumstances when the need for sweeping could be much sooner. The RULE OF THUMB: When in doubt, call for a professional chimney cleaning!
American Chimney & Masonry chimney cleaning service is performed by technicians that are certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America and by the Oregon Chimney Sweep Association. To assure that you receive only the most highly qualified service available, our equipment is specifically designed for the type of chimney we are servicing whether it be a large masonry fireplace, furnace flue or metal factory built chimney system.
All brushable creosote and soot are removed without damaging your fireplace or chimney in any way. This includes the elbows in factory built chimneys or connector pipes, which can become separated by using improperly sized or inappropriate brushes or rods. The work is done both from the outside and inside the home. We use proven methods to assure that no soot or creosote escapes into the room of your home. Drop cloths, rug runners, a high speed vacuum, tarps over the fireplace and shoe covers allow us to guarantee mess-free cleaning! We remove all soot and creosote dislodged during the cleaning process from the smoke shelf and firebox.
Our technicians will also examine the fireplace (or appliance) and chimney and provide you with information regarding any problems or concerns discovered during the cleaning process. See Chimney Inspections.
